Exercise the brain

Why do i lose game after game? What is it that makes me lose? It’s not that my opponents crushes me from start to finish. It’s not that my opponents know more about chess then me. After a study of my games i think, i hope, i found the solution. I need to make my brain used to calculation.

How to turn bad times in good times?
You have periods of time where everything in your chess goes wrong. In each game you play, it doesn’t matter against who you play, you eventually make a blunder that cost you the game. You try to save the game but by each move more your position crumbles until there is only a position left in which your opponent has to choose how to win the game. You resign in disgust with yourself. Your opponent happy. You try not to punch out a window or a hole in the wall with your fist. But you can only blame one person for this loss, yourself.

Have you heard the news?
februari 2nd, 2011 — Tournament

Ninth round of the team competition of the Antwerp commerce 2011. As always me and a teammate, who lives close to me, drive for about an hour to the place of the chess meeting. Jokes and puns makes the conversation light. The atmosphere in the car is full of gigles and laughter when we arive at the playing venue. When we are getting close to the door of the building it goes wide open and a teammate walks towards us. His face is all seriousness. His eyes reveals that he is shocked by something. “Have you heard the news?” are the first words he directs to us.
